In defense of Pumpkin Spice and other foods that are fun to hate

It's officially the first day of fall, and I couldn't even make it through my first official Pumpkin Spice Latte of the of the season, when I came across yet another post on Instagram bashing Pumpkin Spice and honestly, it hurt my heart. Whyyy??? Why all the hate?

For starters, I'm a firm believer in "don't yuck, someone else's yum". You don't have to like everything, and that's fine but vocally trashing something that someone else enjoys is just rude. Especially when its something as completely subjective as food.

Secondly, of all the comments I've seen jumping on the Pumpkin Hate Bandwagon, not a single one started with "I tried it and..." As a matter of fact, I don't personally know anyone who's tried it and hasn't like it. (Although I'm sure a few will come crawling out the woodworks once I post this.)

What I have seen among the Pumpkin Hate Delegation is a common misconception that Pumpkin Spice Latte actually contain pumpkin.

Easy mistake, but reading is fundamental kids. Its a Pumpkin Spice Latte. It's not the pumpkin that's giving the flavor its the spices and I know y'all don't have a problem with cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and allspice. And if you don't recognize those little containers with the red lid, then that just tells me you never helped your grandma cook and it shows.

Now, I'm not blindly supporting all things Pumpkin and Pumpkin spice. Even I can admit that a few of these pumpkin spiced things have even given me pause, but I haven't tried them all but you know what, I won't knock it before I do.
